2019 is Coach Jasmine Ortiz’s third season with Shadow Mountain Volleyball.  In 2017, Jasmine coached our freshmen team, last season, she coached our JV team and this season, Jasmine is on the Varsity court as Coach Meyer’s assistant.  Jasmine is originally from Kofa High School in Yuma, Arizona and moved to the valley on a volleyball scholarship from Phoenix College.  Not only did Jasmine excel on the court at PC, but she also earned her Associate Degree in Business.

Jasmine went on to Grand Canyon University and graduated in 2018 with a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management.  She then worked for both the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Scottsdale and the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department.  Last year Jasmine said she wanted to pursue her Master’s degree and this year, she is doing just that!  Jasmine is studying at Ottawa University and is also on scholarship to play Beach Volleyball for this upcoming season!  She is very excited to get the opportunity to play volleyball again while furthering her education.  Not only is Jasmine in school and coaching SMHS volleyball, but she is currently working for the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department as a Recreation Leader and loves her job.

Jasmine says that volleyball has and will continue to impact her life in a positive way.  She loves sharing her knowledge with young athletes and helping them find their passion and reach their goals through volleyball.  She also finds it amazing to see young athletes grow and learn as players and individuals because teaching commitment, responsibility and accountability go beyond volleyball and are life lessons that will carry them throughout their life.
